Capped Membership

Crowds at the gym are the worst. Don’t worry about it. We’ve had a waiting list before and we’ll have one again.

High Quality

This should go without saying, but with today’s marketplace, it doesn’t. We take care of this place.

How to Join The Training Station

The Training Station doesn’t work like other gyms. We don’t have staff who work on commission and pressure you to join. Don’t get us wrong — we welcome new members with open arms. But, after meeting, we won’t “sell” you on the place if it doesn’t fit your needs — maybe it’s our hours or, well, who knows. Like our old location (TTS 1.0), we’re capping our membership to ensure that our member experience is exceptional. That means we will have waitlist for new members before we’d ever allow a waitlist for a machine.

We also celebrate a transparent business model. No smoke and mirrors here. It’s a club. You’re a member. There’s a monthly fee. Still, we’re in this for our members. Phil Clark, the owner, can often be found talking members out of training sessions if he doesn’t think they need it. Expect to be talked out of spending.

But we’re not a discount gym. We’re not looking for folks who plan to only spend $10/month. We take a lot of pride in this place. Most of our members spend a decent amount of time here daily. So you’ll find the weights put back, the machines clean, and the members friendly.

Joining is simple enough. If you’d like a tour, give us a call before you come in so we can make sure someone — probably Phil — can show you around. From there, you’re welcome to join. We don’t allow folks to join the gym online — we want to meet you first. We also fully expect to implement a waitlist sooner rather than later. So, if you’re busy in the near future and you’d like to take steps to try to secure a spot, here are a few things you can do now. Fill out the Membership Agreement, it’s a PDF Form you can find by clicking here. E-mail it to us at [email protected] and [email protected]. If you’d like, you can withhold your payment information. Someone from TTS will get back to you shortly via phone.

You’ll probably love it here.

New Exerciser Consultation

We’re trying out something new. Included with all new memberships is something we call a “New Exerciser Consultation.” Far too often gyms take advantage of newcomers by offering free consultations as a ploy to sell Personal Training. This is not that. If you haven’t noticed, we don’t do “sales pitches” here.

Our gym is just as ideal for the seasoned exerciser as it is for the brand new exerciser. Among the reasons people have for exercising, the two most popular ones are health and weight-loss. We want our members to know how to meet those goals.

We know our gym inside and out. We also know health. Phil Clark, our owner, Yale alumnus, and Philly coaching guru, has studied each machine and, with his knowledge of physiology, created a formula that calculates the amount of exercise each person needs to be healthy and to lose weight.

So, for example, let’s say that we’re having a consult with a 230-pound, 45-year-old man standing 6 feet tall. His doctor suggested he start to lose between 5-10 pounds in the next 6 months. He knows his way around the gym a bit but wants to maximize his time because his schedule only allows for 3 work-outs a week. We would tell him to burn at least 379 calories per workout—which he could do walking 30 minutes on the treadmill and moderately lifting weights for an additional 25 minutes. He would burn the equivalent of 1.3 pounds of body fat per month.

Should he want a custom workout detailing the exercises and intensities that will equal 379 calories burned, we can write a custom written work-out for $20.00.

We can’t stress enough that there is no pressure. It’s not Personal Training (though, if you’re new to working out, training sessions might be a good idea and you’re welcome to ask us). This is simply our best effort to give newcomers the important information they need to be healthy and to lose weight.

When we offer a service, we don’t fall short. An exercise regimen like this, with this amount of detail and personalization, at this price, is uncommon if not non-existent. For the foreseeable future, we will offer New Exerciser Consultations. The custom written work-out regimens is probably something you want to take advantage of now.

Frequently Asked Questions

Explain the no contract thing.

Life is life. So, when you sign up, there’s no contract. No obligations. No extra re-enrollment fees. No hidden cancellation.

How is this different from other gyms?

You know that gym membership sales stereotype? “Sign up now for 12 months and get….” etc.? We hate that too. So we do the opposite. We maintain excellent resources, keep prices standard, and provide a unique non-binding membership agreement. Affordable, convenient, friendly, knowledgeable, clean — the list goes on. This fundamental ideology defines The Training Station. It creates a community conducive of optimal health, enjoyment, respect, and ease. It’s the way a gym should be. It’s just better.

Do you have parking?

Yes, we have so much parking. And an awesome bike rack.

What is your refund policy?

It’s a month-to-month membership so… no refunds!

Why wait?
